I’m Paul Salley, founder of CASTAFLY Outdoor Adventures, but more than anything, I’m just a guy who loves the outdoors, fly fishing, and the people I’ve met along the way. I grew up in Southwest Kansas and eventually made Northwest Arkansas home, putting me right in the heart of the Ozarks and within reach of some incredible creeks and rivers. What started as a passion for exploring these waters grew into CASTAFLY in 2020—a way to document adventures, share what I’ve learned, and hopefully encourage others to get outside and GET LOST for a while. You’ll usually find me wet wading a small Ozark creek, throwing streamers for smallmouth, chasing trout, exploring new water, or sharing an adventure with family and friends.
CASTAFLY has never been about being the best angler in the room or pretending I have everything figured out. I’ll hang flies in trees, miss fish, make bad casts, and occasionally wonder what in the world I was thinking. That’s part of the adventure. What matters to me is building community, encouraging others, protecting the waters we enjoy, and creating memories along the way. Through our YouTube adventures, guided trips, events, partnerships, and the incredible people I meet on the water, my goal is to make CASTAFLY about something bigger than catching fish.
I’m also a husband, father, outdoorsman, storyteller, and someone who believes time spent outside has a way of putting life back into perspective. Some of my favorite adventures aren’t measured by the size or number of fish caught, but by the conversations, friendships, laughs, and memories made between the banks. Whether you’re an experienced fly angler or someone picking up a fly rod for the first time, I hope CASTAFLY encourages you to explore somewhere new, support the outdoor community, take care of the places we’re fortunate enough to enjoy, and create a few stories of your own.
Life happens between the banks. Get outside. Explore. GET LOST.
