Quick Release Fly Fishing Net

Over the years, I've utilized various fishing nets, all of which have effectively served their purpose. Thus, I won't delve into the specifics of each net in this post, as there are numerous high-quality options available on the market, including custom handcrafted nets crafted by skilled artisans.

However, the efficacy of nets is contingent upon one's ability to locate fish. What I aim to discuss is the manner in which one carries their net. Some fly fishing backpacks or sling packs are equipped with a designated slot for net storage, typically positioned behind the angler. Yet, accessing the net while engaged in the act of reeling or stripping in a catch can prove challenging, particularly in the midst of contending with a whopper bluegill. 😄

While belt holsters are a viable option, I have personally found an alternative system to be exceptionally effective over the past two years. While it may not suit everyone's preferences, I am inclined to share my positive experiences with our amazing followers.

The Spider Tool Holster presents a belt-mounted carrying solution originally designed for power tools, but adeptly repurposed for fishing nets. Compatible with any belt, this holster features an elastic tool grip that securely fastens to the net handle. Inserting the net into the locking holster renders it readily accessible for immediate use.

The tool grip employs Velcro (and an optional zip tie on the new model) for additional security, ensuring the net remains firmly in place during your fishing excursion. Compatible with most belts, I have personally tested its compatibility with various wading belts, all of which exhibited seamless integration.

Once inserted into the holster, the net is securely locked in place, affording freedom of movement while traversing waterways. To release the net, a simple trigger mechanism facilitates swift retrieval without the need for cumbersome maneuvering or contortions.

Furthermore, I have supplemented this system with a small bungee, affixed using heavy-duty split rings, enhancing its versatility and keeping the net from floating away on me.
