Featured Partner: Big thanks to Jarrod over at The Fly Armory for tying up the Shannon’s Minnow featured in this episode. It’s an awesome pattern and definitely earned a spot in my go-to lineup. Be sure to check out his website and show him some support! https://www.flyarmory.com

The Backcast (Episode Overview): Finding time on the water isn’t always easy. Life gets busy, priorities shift, and sometimes things get messy. A few years back, I made a decision to change that—I moved my family to Northwest Arkansas so we could experience more of the outdoors and build a life around it. Even now, it’s not always simple to carve out time, but I’ve learned this—every minute on the water is a blessing.

After a couple of tough weekends chasing smallmouth with no luck, Conner and I made a last-minute call to go after work so we headed north out of Arkansas, and found ourselves on the Elk River in southwest Missouri with about a three-hour window to fish. Nothing planned, nothing scheduled—just one of those spur-of-the-moment adventures that usually turn into the best kind. We didn’t cover much water—less than a mile—but it was enough. We landed three smallmouth and lost at least four more.

More importantly, we shared a few hours on a beautiful river, watching the sun fade into the night. That’s what it’s really about. I hope you find a way to prioritize some time outdoors. And as always, thank you for being part of the journey. - Paul
