Summer Time Smallies In The Ozarks

On this beautiful summer day I found myself back on Indian Creek in southwest Missouri. What a great day on the water the weather was amazing as we got a break from the summer Heat Advisories being posted almost daily.

I've really been enjoying my time on Indian Creek and I've only covered about 4 miles to date. Just a beautiful Ozark creek that has just a rich habitat of fish and wildlife it keeps calling me back.

Indian Creek is a stream in McDonald County originating in the Ozark Highlands near Boulder City, MO. It flows into the Elk River near Lanagan, MO. It was named for its history as a Native American rendezvous point during the county’s early history (Bell).

I dropped in on a section I fished in my last episode and worked my way upstream about mile. That mile stretch was amazingly beautiful and so were the smallmouth. I lost count but I definitely found some very nice fish that morning.

I keep track of all my adventures by logging them into Google Maps and as I plan out my expeditions its easy to pull up on the map and target different sections and also look out for potential public or open access areas.

Just a fun filled day doing what I love getting lost in the Ozarks and chasing smallies.
