Roaring River Winter Catch and Release Opener
Here we are, it's November, I headed out on a crisp wet beautiful morning to Roaring River State Park. Located in the heart of the Ozark Hills in southwest Missouri, Roaring River is one of the state’s most popular parks, drawing over a million visitors each year. It's also one of the few parks in Missouri that stocks Rainbow trout.
For me, the best time to fish here is during the winter months. With the crowds thinning out, you can sometimes find yourself enjoying the park almost all to yourself, with only a few other anglers around.
From the second Friday in November through the second Monday in February, fishing at Roaring River is catch-and-release only, with hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Remember, you’ll need a Missouri fishing permit and an annual trout permit—but no park tag is required during this period.
The park has done an amazing job of stocking some really nice quality fish. Make plans and make the trip you wont be disappointed.
