Roaring River Fly Fishing Amidst The Cicada Emergence

When I first heard about Brood XIX, a group of periodical cicadas set to emerge in 2024, I was immediately excited. I knew this would be a fantastic opportunity for some thrilling dry fly fishing.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know my favorite thing is the dry fly bite. There’s just something about that top water action, and I’m a sucker for big foam flies.
So, it’s Memorial Day weekend 2024, and Roaring River is bustling with people fishing, camping, and having a great time. This park remains one of my favorite fishing spots. Yes, it’s a trout park with stocked fish, but combined with the park’s sheer beauty, it’s hard to resist.
On busy days like this, the park can limit your access to different fishing sections due to the crowd, but I always enjoy moving around and chatting with folks. Fly fishing isn’t just a great way to recharge; sometimes, taking time to connect with others can be equally fulfilling.
