Hot Ozarks Summer Fly Fishing for Trout at Roaring River

I’ve spent hundreds of hours at Roaring River State Park over the years, and it never gets old. Still, I sometimes wonder—do my subscribers really want to watch me fish the same spot again and again?

Well, the views say it all: the answer is yes. You all keep coming back, and that means I’ll keep fishing the River and sharing those experiences with you.  It’s hard not to love this place. Sure, I’ve heard people say, “That’s not real trout fishing, that’s not a real trout stream.” But let’s be honest—there’s a river here, and there are trout.

To me, that’s real enough. No, it’s not a wild mountain stream in the Rockies, but it’s ours. It’s part of the Ozarks, and I’m proud of it. Around here, we’re blessed with plenty of options—tailwater trout, native smallmouth, and more.  At the end of the day, Roaring River is special. The hatchery produces incredible fish for everyone to enjoy, and for me it’s tied to countless memories.

I’ve met so many of you out there on the water, and that’s been one of the best parts—handing out CASTAFLY stickers, saying hello, and building friendships. That sense of community is what outdoor adventure is all about.  Hope you’re all having an amazing summer—see you on the river. -Paul
