Fly Rods and Footprints Father-Son Fly Fishing Adventure

Episode Details: Join us as we explore upstream on this beautiful Ozark creek in Southwest Missouri on a special father-son fly fishing trip. Wet wading through crystal-clear waters, we search for the elusive Ozark smallmouth bass and share unforgettable moments along the way.

From watching my son’s fly casting improve to the quiet beauty of the backcountry, this day was more than just fishing. It was about connection, growth, and leaving a footprint he can follow. This is why CASTAFLY exists: to inspire, to connect, and to get lost in wild places together.

Rod Setup:

6WT Moonshine Blackout Drifter Rod with Cortland’s Crown Series Fly Reel 5/7

My Leader/Tippet Setup:

I use Cortland’s Monofilament Nylon Leader Material to build all my bass fishing leaders. I use 4ft of 20lb down to a micro swivel then add 2ft of 14lb down to my fly. Simple to build and gets the job done.
